Please be careful out there abeg............That was how Ekenedilichukwu was called the other day by a particular fraudster claiming to be a representative of ABC Bank.
..........................................................................................................................................................
**Let me make it clear today once and for all: NO NIGERIAN BANK WILL ASK YOU OF YOUR BANKING DETAILS OR PERSONAL INFORMATION VIA PHONE CALLS/ EMAILS**
Any Bank/Representative of the Bank that engages you in such conversation is a SCAMMER!....Don't say I didn't warn you oh!!
..........................................................................................................................................................
BACK TO THE STORY:
So, Ekene decided to give into the conversation of this particular fellow imposing himself as representative of the bank. He asked Ekene of his Card Verification Value (which was those 3-digit code at the back of his ATM Card) claiming it was needed to complete his BVN Update and other Account processing upgrade. And that was it.....In the next couple of minutes, Ekenedilichukwu started receiving unbelievable debit alerts from his account.....With just his Card Verification Value (CVV).
E shock you abi......Yes.....It's very very possible.
The Question is, WHAT IS CARD VERIFICATION VALUE (CVV)?
The Card Verification Value (CVV) is an inscribed 3-digit code at the back of your Master/Verve Debit Card used when making online transactions. To protect yourself from fraudsters, you must keep your CVV confidential at all time. One careless mis-yarn or imputing such code in an unverified site/online shopping platform can empty your account straight up!
TIPS TO PROTECT YOUR CVV:
Do not input your CVV in any unsecured/unverified websites.
Do not share the full details of your DEBIT CARDs in public.
Do not share photos of your DEBIT CARD with friends/acquaintances or on social media.
Ignore unsolicited requests for your personal banking information.
