THE INNOVATION CALLED “TESLA”

So 7days after the “Happy New Year” Celebration; The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla respectively was declared the richest person in the world at $190Billion and all he could say as at that time was: “How strange…..Well, back to work”……lol….Can you imagine!

Well, it will interest you to know that Tesla was founded on July 1, 2003 as Tesla Motors by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. 

The name of the electric car company whose Headquarter is located at Palo Alto, California in the United State of America, is a tribute to one of the world’s greatest inventor and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla (the innovator behind the AC Current--the electricity that Tesla vehicles uses in their motors).  

 In 2008, the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk advanced the company’s transition by creating the Solar City (a solar energy services company). His goal is to create affordable mass market electric vehicles and ensure that the business thrives on innovation.

Tesla gained recognition in 2013 when it unleashed its flagship car the Model S. The electric car received a near perfect score of 99 out of 100 from Consumer Reports, which also named it "the best car ever tested."

Also, in January 10, 2020, Tesla became the most valuable American automaker ever, with a market capitalization of $86 billion. Tesla's market capitalization surpassed that of BMW, Daimler and Volkswagen combined. That same year, the company reached a market capitalization of $206 billion, surpassing Toyota's $202 billion to become the world's most valuable automaker by market capitalization.

All this was achieved through INNOVATION!

The question is, what are the simple ways of becoming innovative in our day-to-day activities?

Below are some tips to becoming Innovative:  

1.       Ask Questions: By asking questions, you are able to challenge yourself and the people around you. This process can trigger people’s minds to think, identify issues and proffer solutions.

2.       Don’t Accept the Status Quo: Just because something has been done a certain way does not mean that it is right. Be willing to engage others and redesign an old process especially when it is outdated.

3.       Carryout Research: Research helps to broaden your horizon and gives you the opportunity to make informed contributions.

4.       Hold Brainstorming Sessions: Call a meeting to brainstorm about certain issues that you feel the need to improve. Team discussions often provide the chance for members to contribute their ideas and achieve more.

Just as Steven Jeffes once said: “Innovation is the unrelenting drive to break the status quo and develop anew where few have dared to go”.
