2021 valentine’s day buzz is on another level compared to that of 2020. Maybe because I’m single to stupor in a time like this. I’ve not really celebrated Valentine’s day being in a relationship though. But this year’s celebration definitely hit different simply because of the buzz.
The intimidating thing was that, the buzz started way
back during the 2nd week of January, 2021. I was like, what’s
happening?! 4weeks to the main day and different hashtags have been trending on
a regular. But thank God, some of my close pals are also babeless like me; So,
the pressure wasn’t from my clicks but from outside. Twitter NG and Facebook weren’t
even helping matters at all not to talk of Instagram; That is a ‘no go area’.
When I thought I’ve finally managed to overcome the
pressure from the buzz, then came the vendors of valentine’s day gift and
parcels. That one na die! Vendors everywhere! It was like the vendors were more
than those actually celebrating the valentine sef….Wahala! Different kind of packages on the timelines to
the extent that even those that don’t have any prospective vals became valentine’s
vendor themselves (If you can’t get a val atleast get a client that will patronize
you for the forthcoming event).
On Friday, February 12, 2021; The weekend of the
Valentine’s day celebration, the buzz skyrocketed into another level as the beer
parlours/bars, restaurants and hangout spots were already booming regardless of
the COVID-19 pandemic in view (Who COVID-19 epp?!).
I never expected less though considering the hype
and announcement online and offline about the forthcoming Valentine’s Day.
I decided to carry out a pre-valentine’s day research
on Friday evening by visiting one my close friend in the hood that owns a
pharmacy store to know what’s up. It dawned on me that 2 packets of Gold-Circles
have been sold out in the space of 4hrs. I kept wondering, if the rate at which
condoms are being consumed on a Friday was that crazy; How much more on Sunday,
February 14? Someone will say, “but 14th of February is on a Sunday;
Let’s keep the Sabbath day HOLY’’
I laugh in Awwwwwwwwwn. After Church service, everything
goes back to the usual. But I will advise we keep it together regardless the
buzz and hype. Make sure you show love, genuine love to loved ones, family and
non-family members. And for the love birds; Biko use protection if you can’t
abstain.
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone and anyone reading this.
GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
